Cardiff/Nantes transports
The first solution is to go to Paris and then get a TGV (train à grande vitesse) to Nantes.
Megabus is certainly the cheaper solution to get from London to Paris (32€) but also the longest (15 hours). Be careful because normally only one item of luggage is allowed.
The other alternative is taking the Eurostar from London to Paris (2 hours and then get a TGV to Nantes (2 hours). Prices are reasonable if you book early.
Airplane is the most popular way to travel. There are a few different options by air. Nantes airport has connections with London Gatwick, Southampton, Manchester and occasional flights to Bristol. We hope that a direct flight from Cardiff to Nantes will be available soon!
When travelling from the airport of Nantes there is a ‘Tanair’ shuttle bus (find the timetable here) which runs to and from the airport and Commerce (commerce stop line 1). It costs €7.50 for a single.
A great tip we discovered here: just ask for an hour ticket and say you are getting off at Neustrie (line 3), this will cost you a grand total of 2 euros (unless the tram ticket cost has changed). You can then get a Tram from Neustrie and use it anywhere on the Tan réseau to get to your destination (Trams and buses alike). The same goes for the other direction. Get the tram to Neustrie, wait for the Airport shuttle bus there and show them your Tan ticket. This of course also works with monthly/yearly passes.
